Anxiety or emotional distress
Worry or difficult emotions may be affecting routines, relationships, or participation in activities.
PERSONALIZED PSYCHIATRIC CARE
Mental health care should make room for different communication styles, sensory experiences, and support needs. Autistic children, adolescents, and adults deserve to be understood as individuals, with goals that reflect their own priorities.
At Raha Behavioral Health, you can ask about support for mental health concerns alongside autism. Our team can help you discuss the kind of appointment you need and whether additional developmental or specialist services would be appropriate.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition, not a character flaw or something a person needs to hide. Support needs differ widely. Psychiatric care may address associated concerns, while developmental assessment, communication support, and educational services involve their own expertise.
Worry or difficult emotions may be affecting routines, relationships, or participation in activities.
It can help to discuss the settings, demands, and communication difficulties associated with distress.
School changes, new responsibilities, or moving into adulthood can create new support needs.
Families and individuals may want help understanding how mental health care fits with other services.
Tell the team how you prefer to communicate and what would make the appointment more comfortable. A trusted support person may help when appropriate.
Bring relevant assessments, care plans, and medication information if available. Your own account of strengths and challenges is equally important.
The provider can discuss mental health needs and whether formal autism testing, developmental services, or other specialist referrals should be arranged separately.
Treatment planning may focus on anxiety, mood, sleep concerns, or other symptoms identified through evaluation, rather than trying to change a person’s identity.
Speech-language, occupational, educational, and behavioral services may play different roles. Ask about coordination with the professionals already involved.
Goals can focus on comfort, participation, and daily functioning. Medication, when considered for a specific associated concern, requires its own discussion and monitoring.
